Introduction
Welcome to Newton Poppleford and Harpford Tennis Club! We’re a small but proud club with two floodlit all-weather hard courts located in a picturesque setting in the heart of the Otter Valley in East Devon.
Our long standing motto is “Anyone for Tennis? Tennis for Anyone!” and in this club we really mean it, with players as young as 5 to senior citizens as old as …… well, that’s anybody’s guess but you get the picture!
With tennis played all year round, the season runs from April to March. The club is genuinely run solely for the benefit of its members. We keep membership fees as low as possible, especially for juniors, to encourage as many people to enjoy the game as possible. The fees include as much tennis as you would like, for the whole year. We have a membership of up to 100 which means that the courts are generally available when you want them.
But the courts are unavailable for casual tennis at certain times such as club night which is every Thursday from 7pm and Vets afternoon on a Wednesday 2pm – 4pm, when any member can turn up and will be assured of a game or two, weather dependent. The exception to this is for league matches & occasional other pre-planned events.
The standard of tennis varies almost as much as the age range so there’s no need to feel intimidated!
