Work on developing a Neighbourhood Plan for the parish commenced in 2015 and culminated in a public referendum which took place in May 2021. In the referendum 86.9% of those who voted supported the adoption of the Neighbourhood Plan. East Devon District Council formally adopted the Neighbourhood Plan on 18th June 2021 meaning that this document carries full weight in the planning decision process. The Parish Council uses the plan to inform all decisions on planning applications submitted in the parish and there is no doubt that having a “made” Neighbourhood Plan has prevented unacceptable and/or unsustainable development in the parish.
